Today's Tile Topic:
Welcome to a new post idea from Modern Mahjong: Our Daily Check-In for our Mahjong Community. We recognize everyone scrolls social media differently and the majority of players aren’t on Facebook or Instagram. Often, the same questions are asked and patiently answered. We thought posting a daily Modern Mahjong Talk of the Tiles would help make recent topics easy for players to find answers. If you have ideas for topics to be included, please comment below or email ModernMahjong@gmail.com.
On the standard, card, the 2468 #4 hand should be in 3 colors. On the large and mega card, the Consecutive Run #3, second hand, should be in 3 colors.
Replacement cards are being sent by the NMJL for all orders already ordered directly from the NMJL. Additionally, if you order now, you will get original card(s) and replacement ones. They will be sent the end of May/early June. You do not need to contact the League.
We have received hundreds of emails and messages about Rule #7 on the back of the card. After claiming a discard, and placing it on your rack or exposing tiles from your rack you cannot return the discard to the table. Rule #7 is only a summary of the rule and intended to explain that UNTIL you either discard or do a Joker Exchange, you can add or subtract both the number of tiles (change a Kong to a Pung) or the type of tile (a 3 Bam to a 2 Bam). You can only change tiles that were from the sloping part of your rack.
KEY TAKEAWAYS: If you add an additional exposure but realize you don’t have Mah Jongg, your hand can be called dead. Once you initiate a Joker Exchange or discard, your exposure cannot be changed.
